Ha’azinu – Echoes Through Scripture

Torah Portion Ha'azinu

Deuteronomy 32:1-52

This year we will be going through the Torah portion cycle looking for themes which occur in each Torah portion that recurs throughout the rest of Scripture with a special focus on connecting them to the Apostolic Writings (New Testament).

In Ha'azinu, we will connect the covenant lawsuit witnessed against Israel in Deuteronomy 32's Song of Moses to the wicked generation that Yeshua warned in the first century. We will see how those who did not heed the warning of Yeshua faced the consequences of the covenant lawsuit when the Zealot sect rebelled against Rome ending in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD and the slaughter of many Jews.

  1. Ryan! Thank you so, so much for this! Much to chew on and digest! As always you are such a blessing!

  2. Ryan, A couple of points…. first, don’t make any apology for going off track, so to speak! These little side trails are most frequently what makes a teaching so educational and interesting. I always learn something in hearing your rabbit trails. (the trick these days is in remembering 🙂

Second, just wondering your opinion about whether or not Yeshua’s warning to flee Jerusalem and to not take part in the political war of their day is in any way applicable to the political war(s) of today? In the latter case, I refer to the war against free speech and against the Constitution and the various other freedoms that we enjoy through our Bill of Rights.

    Shalom!

  3. Very interesting that this is Torh Portion H…. might want to consider fixing that 😉
